Photo taken at Martinmere April 2009. The Black-tailed Godwit is a large wading bird with a long straight bill and long legs. Easily seperated from the Bar-tailed Godwit in flight by the black tail, white rump and white bar on the wing. Generally an Auntumn and Winter visitor to the Uk, and mainly seen on muddy estuaries, coastal areas and marshes. Size approx 38-44cm (15-17")
