Not a great pic as I had to take it through a window. These adorable little birds are Dark Eyed Juncos, They are commonly called Snowbirds as they appear during the winter. They are a member of the Sparrow family. We spotted three of them perched on the fence a couple of days ago. They looked like they were casing the joint, which in fact they were. Since then there have been four of them feeding at the feeders much to the annoyance of the Mourning Doves. WE used to see these in large groups when we lived out in the country . They would spend ages in fields sitting on grasses getting the seed. Wonderful to see fly in agroup low over the fields. Very surprised to have four take over the garden here.
