A delightful picture of common European brown hares. These shy and retiring creatures share much in common with the rabbit and are probably as well feted in UK folklore.
Hares can achieve speeds of up to 70 kph (45mph) and, as opposed to rabbits, they live a solitary life. The young (leverets) are born in a shallow depression in the ground,fully furred and ready to flee their many predators....not least 'man'
