Distinctive shiny red and black froghopper.Can be found resting on low vegetation and jumps well to escape from danger. Common and widespread in hedgerows, woodland rides and meadows; Can be seen from May to ­August. Feeds on plant sap. Nymphs found on roots. Length 9mm
