Rare vagrant to the UK but commonly seen on the european continent, predominently central and eastern Europe. Found beside rivers and marshy fields. Breeds in wooded areas or on riverside cliffs. It is almost 1 metre high with a wingspan of 180cms. It feeds on a diet of large frogs and large insects.
