Photo taken at Bempton Cliffs, July 2004.

A medium sized gull that breeds off our coasts on rocky, steep sea-cliffs, buildings and piers. They feed on sand eels, shrimps and worms and spend their winter months out at sea. It is strictly a coastal bird though may be blown inland by strong winds.
