This is a goose that is native to southeast Russia, northern India and western China.Unlike the Barnacle goose the reason in which this bird got its name needs no explanation for the two horseshoe-shaped, brownish-black bars on the back of their white head are obvious for all to see. This bird breeds at high altitudes, beside high mountain lakes. In fact it is also a high migratory flier as it has even been seen flying high above from the summit of Mount Everest. This duck has Crepuscular habits (feeds at dawn and dusk)grazing on wild plants and invertebrates. Length 30in.
