Wingspan 2-3cm. The upperside is brown and inconspicuous, but the underside is entirely green. Flight period is early April to late August. Found throughout Europe in open woods and heaths. Feeds on flowers and honeydew.
Caterpillar...Woodlouse shaped, intensely green with a pattern of whitish-yellow lines. Feeds on plants such as gorse, dogwood and common rockrose.
