A noisy, gregarious bird the Long tailed tit is more noticeable in winter when it roves the countryside and gardens in small flocks. In the breeding season it will nest anywhere there are scrubby bushes; woodland, parks or gardens. It feeds on a diet of insects and occasionally seeds and peanuts in autumn and winter. It is becoming an increasingly regular visitor to the urban garden in winter where it is attracted to the nut feeders.
