Photo taken on roof of Central Tyres, Bolton, UK. Febuary 2004.

When wintering Lapwings move away from lowlands and gather in large flocks around marshes, ploughed fields and estuaries. The flock (containing some 300 birds) photographed above spend every winter roosting in central Bolton and move out onto nearby farmland during the day to feed.
