A quiet secretive bird the Bullfinch spends alot of time deep within hedgerows. The male has a bright pink breast whilst the female is drabber. Both have a distinctive white rump in flight.
Its diet consists of insects, berries, seeds (e.g. dock, nettle, bramble, ash, birch, honesty), and buds, making it an enemy of some gardeners and fruit growers.
Breeding starts in April. 1-3 clutches are produced a year.
