Wingspan 3-4cm. The upperside of the wings are orange-red inside with a broad brown edge, forewing with a black eye- spot with two white centres.
Flight period is early July to late brood. Feeds on flowers, commonly found around bramble thickets.
Caterpillar...creamy white with a fine ochre-brown pattern and a dark brown line down it's back…The head is light brown,forked tail. Feeds on,Perennial Ryegrass,bents and other grasses.It is very active at night..
