A much loved bird of the countryside this bird was once in serious decline. Fortunatly in some areas this decline has been halted and numbers are now on the increase. They are widely spread across the UK breeding in open country, especially farmland with barns, and coastal marshland. In winter it can be found in similar areas.

Maximum lifespan: 21 years
Length: 33-39cm
Wingspan: 80-95cm
