Birds can be encouraged to nest in the garden by using a variety of different nestboxes. The box in the photo above is stuck on the top of a high tower with ivy allowed to grow up it. Two important things to remember when siting your box are 1) site it to the north out of the hottest sun and any prevailing weather conditions and 2) place the box near to trees. This gives protection both to the adults and the fledglings once they leave the nest.
