Photo taken 16/04/04 Notts. This is a second year bird. It is browner than the black adult.

Also known as the Great Cormorant this is a large and conspicuous waterbird. Regarded by some as black and reptilian looking they are supreme fishers. During the breeding season they are mainly to be found in coastal areas though a few inland sites can be found mainly in trees by freshwater lakes, gravel pits and reservoirs. The UK also holds significantly important winter populations.
