Small, grey nocturnal Owl 19-24cms in length. It is generally insectivorous, although they may take small birds, rodents and other small mammals. To catch their prey they jump down from an open perch. Their habitat consists of scrub and bush, woodland with sparse ground cover. Acacia forests and savannas. They are resident throughout most of Africa south of the Sahara.
