Pheasants are game birds and have been traditionally bred for shooting over many centuries. As a result escaped birds have spread out over all the UK and can be found anywhere there is farmland, open woodland and plenty of hedgerows. They are also very much the opportunist and can often be found foraging beneath bird feeders in large suburban or rural gardens.
