Overview

Over the Garden Gate is a site designed primarily for entertainment and information.
Our aim is to encourage a greater exchange of views, information and experiences on the Internet between UK gardeners and environmentalists and the rest of the world.
It is intended to develop the site as an interactive resource and relevant contributions are welcomed from visitors.

In the past it has been funded by subscriptions, user donations and the webmasters hard earned money from his day job. Thankfuly we can now cover the running costs with advertising.
Only casual visitors see the adverts - Oggies don't.

Browser Recommendations

This site is best experienced with FireFox, Internet Explorer or Netscape browser.
We recommend a minimum screen resolution of 800 x 600, with frames and javascript support.
For correct access you need cookies enabled (Session and persistant cookies).

If you experience any problems or difficulties, please let us know
(we can only fix it if we know it's broken!)

Guidelines and Rules

Visitors are invited to introduce themselves at the Profiles by posting brief details about themselves. The Name you use for your profile should be the same as the Name you use on the site. Having a proflie gives you greater access to the site.

A valid email address is required to use the Forum, Profile and Album areas.
The proprietors undertake that email addresses posted on this site will not be passed to third parties without the owner's consent, and all addresses are protected from public access, to prevent spamming, and ensure your privacy.

The proprietors accept no responsibility for the validity of information posted on this site.

Bad language will not be tolerated, nor insulting comments intended to offend others.
The proprietors are tolerant and broad minded, but reserve the right to delete items posted on this site that they feel are offensive, wildly inaccurate, deliberately misleading, or of a self-promotional nature. Please read the Chat and Forum guidelines.

While visitors are welcome to copy and use pictures, pages and sounds on this site, commercial use of this material not permitted. Please do not link to images or files on our server.

Text, pictures, sounds and any other material posted on this site by visitors should be either owned by the poster or be in the public domain.

If you see something on this site that offends you, please email the webmaster immediately with your concerns.

While all this stuff sounds rather tiresome and negative, it is written to protect the proprietors and users of this site. Thank you for reading this far!

Privacy

Never put your email address in the text of a posting - robots stalk the internet collecting email addresses to sell to spammers.
OverTheGardenGate protects your privacy, your email address is secure, and is never given to anyone else.
You can contact other Oggies by clicking the email icon in the Forum and Album threads,
or by going to an Oggies Profile.
Doing this does not reveal your email address as Holly (the site Mascot) sends the message on your behalf.

OverTheGardenGate places a Cookie on your PC to store some basic information about you and when you last visited, this is so we can welcome you and highlight what is new next time you come here.
The information in this Cookie can only be read by Overthegardengate.

The website doesn't recognise me any more!
If the forum suddenly begins to welcome you as a 'Guest', and your details are not automatically entered into forms, you've lost your cookie (this can happen for a variety reasons). To repair it, go to the the profiles editing page, enter your password and user name EXACTLY as in your profile, and click the submit button. This will open your current profile for editing, and your Cookie will be restored as per your profile
