Common name/s is 'Columbine' or Granny's Bonnet

Aquilegia is a hardy perennial grown sometimes as a biennial.
The most common variety grown in the UK is A.vulgaris.
The flowers are approx 600-900mm high (2'-3')and prefer a sunny or partially shaded spot in the border

Sow: circa week 26 in trays and place in coldframe.
Varieties will not come true to type with self sown or collected seed

Plant out: circa week 35-40 @ 400mm centres, plants usually flower around week 22 the following year.

Plants can be divided circa week 40 - 45
