Cultural notes

Plant the bulbs as soon as they are available. (August/September)

The hole should be three times as deep as the bulb, e.g. 50mm bulb x 3 equals 150mm deep hole.

Narcissus thrive in rich, well manured soil protected by slight shade.
Apply a 2-3 oz. dressing of general fertiliser per sq. yd prior to planting

The spacing of the larger types of Narcissus is 100-200m apart. smaller species , should he planted 50-75mm apart in groups of a dozen.

In all cases let Narcissus leaves die down completely, or at least become yellow, before removing them. This is necessary so that the foliage can feed the bulbs, thus ensuring flowering the following year.

In general the best time to lift Narcissi is when they become congested and flower less freely. If possible, do this between July and September replanting them immediately.
