Also known as Kaffir Lilly

This fast growing rhizomatous perennial is a member of the Iris family (Iridaceae).

Reaching a height and spread of 60 x 30cm (24 x 12in) it produces upright stems of large, deep red flowers in August and September.

Likes full sun and a moist, well drained, moderately fertile soil.

Hardy to -10C (14F) but flower spikes suceptable to frost damage.
After flowering remove old stems and protect crown with deep dry mulch through winter.

Lift and divide if required in spring after 2-3 years.
