Very hardy species fuchsia. Forms a fairly compact bush, lax habit.
This variety was discovered growing in a garden in the Edinburgh suburb of Riccarton in the late 1700's and it is thought was planted there by a sailor who brought it back from South America!!
Its normal habitat is some 10,000 feet up in the Andes!

Very similar to the Magenallica species which is very common in the West country & Ireland as hedging.
