This plant is the National Symbol of New Zealand

The foliage has a green upper surface and is silvery white underneath, trunk is dark brown.
Slow growing but can reach 10m (32 feet). Fronds up to 3m (10 feet) long.
Needs a shaded, sheltered position, lots of water when in growth and protection from hard frosts.
