One of the commonest wood rotting fungi. Also known as stags horn fungus because of its shape. Typical black at the base and white towards the top. Becomes black and warty in the winter.
3-5cms high. stalk 2-5mm wide.
FOund mainly on deciduous trees, rarely on conifes, throughout the year. It is not edible as it is very tough.
