Initially the skin is covered in conical warts but these fall off leaving a mesh like pattern on a brown paper like skin. This then ruptures to form a small apical pore through which the pores escape. Young specimens are firma nd white inside.
2-5cms diametre
Found in leaf litter in deciduous and coniferous woods, late summer to autumn.
Edible when still young and firm.
