Photo taken Sheffield Botanical Gardens, August 2004.

A non trunk forming, mounding cactus. Height 2-3 feet with a spread of 4-5feet. The pads reach 3-6 inches long with the new growth emerging red. The flowers are a creamy yellow 1.5-2 inch diametre.
In the wild it grows in Mexixo.
Indoors this plant needs full exposure to the sun and irrigate with rain water. It also needs good drainage. This is a low maintenance plant.
