Photo taken Sheffield Botanical Gardens, August 2004.
Also known as Cactus tuna var. elatior, Cactus elatior.
In the wild can be found in the Caribbean, Central America to northern South America.
It has a shrubby growth, growing up to 15 feet tall. The pads can reach a length of 16 inches.
In the UK tests have shown this plant to be reasonably hardy.
