As these fungi matures their caps flatten and the spots drop off with age. The cap can measure up to 25cms across. It is found throughout the UK from September - November. Often found in pine woodlands, and also around the base of birch trees.

WARNING - The fly agaric is poisonous. It is known to cause hallucinations, violent stomach upsets, uncontrollable muscle spasms and could be fatal.
