Common name: Spurge, Milkweed. Semi-evergreen, erect perennial. H&S30cm. Stems and leaves are heavily suffused with purple. Flower heads of cup shaped, yellow bracts in Spring. Prefers sun or partial shade and moist, well drained soil. Susceptible to mildew. Propagate by division in Spring or Autumn, or by planting basal cuttings in a cold frame in Spring. NB: Milky sap from broken stalks may irritate the skin.
