Deciduous tree up to 30m (100ft).
Not for the small garden unless grown as a hedge as nothing will grow in its shade.
Grow in full sun to preserve leaf colour. Prune in July.
Propagate from beech nuts sown in a pot or in situ in autumn.
Will tolerate any reasonable garden soil except heavy clay.
