Small evergreen tree (height 5m, spread 2m). Black branches clothed with wavy-edged, pale green leaves. Needs a warm, sheltered spot. Can be grown from seed under glass in spring or from softwood cuttings taken in summer. Vanilla scented, chocolate-purple flowers in May.
