Species from Canada, Alaska and Japan.This can be a variable plant in height (45-60cms) and flower colour (ranging from pale mauve blue with strong, dark veining to deep purple with even darker veins) Leaves are deeply divided and colour well in autumn. It grows well in full sun or part shade. Flowering from June onwards. Propagation is by division or seed.
