Hardy evergreen shrub, tolerant of any position and soil. Invaluable for all year round colour in dense shade although some sun does its spotted yellow leaves more justice.
The male bears red berries in winter but the female has more brightly coloured leaves.
Height 2-3M; can be drastically pruned or topiarised in May.
Propagation by planting softwood cuttings in a cold frame in summer.
