I noticed a lot of green & white fly on my roses this year ( resorted to squirting with soapy water ) .... I wonder why there's a big decline in them ? was it due to the long cold winter !!?

.....and thinking about it i've not seen many lacewings either !! emoticon

I just came across this article :

Funny you should mention that. I also have not seen many ladybugs in my garden this year. Last year they seemed to be everywhere, including in my house!

I have seen neither ladybirds in the day nor moths at night this yearemoticon

When I first moved to this house and put a light on my patio, I got a lot of moths flying around it if I switched it on at night and Cleo used to enjoy pouncing on them through the patio window. Lucy has had no such funemoticon

I saw a ladybird in the garden today emoticon sadly only the one though. Another critter I have suddenly realised that we have not been seeing that we usually do is the bats, we always had bats flying around/across the garden on summer evenings, but not seen a single one this year.

I used to have bats too but I suppose if the moths have gone there is nothing for them to feed onemoticon

Just goes to show how very delicate the balance of nature is ! emoticon .... we all need to do our little bit to protect these fragile creatures as much as we can .....
