I am a late comer to gardening as I have only had this one since 2001 - coming off a narrowboat where I lived for 5 years and previously in a maisonette with not so much as a window box! Gardening and cooking/food are my passions.br /br /br /br /br /br /br /

My garden is not very large, but does back onto a field, trees, canal etc so with a bit of cunning, and NOT putting a wooden fence at the bottom of the garden as the neigbours have done, it looks like my garden is enourmous! I have crammed loads of plants into the garden - as there are so many that I love, and it is now starting to look mature. I have constructed a water feature that I hope looks quite natural and last summer managed to get a pergola finished over which I will have a golden hop, a vine when they mature and perhaps a wisteria which bloomed for the first time this year (2010)br /br /br /br /br /br /br /

Gardening takes up most of my spare time - my attitude is that no-one knows if you have done your housework, but EVERYONE knows if you have done your garden! br /br /br /br /br /br /br /

I love orchids (for indoors), hostas and clematis, but really anything that grows. And breadmaking and I also love to entertain and try out new recipes.br /br /br /br /br /br /br /

Just along the road are some allotments - I am trying to pluck up the courage to take one on, but in the meantime, want to try to grow some veg at the bottom of the garden - so far have managed runner beans and tomatoesbr /br /br /br /br /br /br /

Could go on forever talking about food, gardens, plants, etc .............. and now I am thoroughly enjoying my retirement. :D
