Like the gardens of Gertrude Jekyll, my garden is divided into rooms, each with a different feel to it. A largish lawn with a summer house has raised beds and trees. A high enclosed terrace room near the house has a table and chairs for eating out. Away from the house, the lawn terminates in a tall shrubbery where an open arch leads to another room enclosing a small fish pond with a pump fed fountain and stream with waterfalls. A paved seating area by the pond leads onto a bridge over the stream and back to an enclosed arbour room where wisteria, roses and honeysuckle fight to cover the arbour arch over a pair of conversation chairs with a triangular table between.

A path then leads further down to the final room at the end of the garden which I have recently redesigned as a play area for my two young grandchildren. An aged Bramley apple tree has been fitted with a ladder to reach an open bowl of branches - a very popular part of the adventure playground. An old rubber tyre makes a useful swing from a Bramley branch and, nearby, a scramble net leads into two hammocks over a large play-bark area. A see-saw and a sand pit complete the facilities. Two sheds and a compost chest help to enclose the playroom and make it secret!

Photography has been a life-long hobby of mine and the garden continues to provide many opportunities through the seasons with both plant and animal subjects challenging my lens. It is this aspect of your web site that has attracted me to join. I hope some of my photos will interest members as time progresses.

I think I must be pleased with a picture I have just taken in my garden!

My sundial says "Only Count the Sunny Hours". What a good motto for the gardener!
